About PCOS          The Personal Computer Operating Shell (PCOS) is a GUI-based shell for use atop most versions of DOS, including Caldera's DR-DOS, IBM's PC-DOS, Microsoft's MS-DOS, and FreeDOS. PCOS is not your typical OS shell- if you're thinking DOSSHELL think again! :) Although it is in fact a shell, PCOS is designed to interact with your computer's hardware on a fundamental level, providing features and functionality above and beyond most typical shell prgrams.
Why PCOS?              PCOS provides a fast, user-friendly, stable environment for end users. PCOS effectively combines the speed and familiarity of the DOS-based environment with the power and flexibility of UNIX, with a user interface similar to that of the traditional MacOS. Users and hobbyists who prefer using DOS over Windows due to stability and speed factors will appreciate being able to utilize a GUI without bogging down their processor to the point of standstill.
